Biography

Carlos holds a BEng degree in Environmental Engineering from the Universidad de La Frontera (Chile) and in Civil Industrial Engineering from Universidad del Mar (Chile). During his studies, he received a scholarship from the EU to study at Technical University of Berlin (Germany) for one year.

Prior to joining the SIS group, Carlos worked as a regional coordinator of solid waste management program for the Regional Government in Chile where he was in charge of the development of regional planning. Before that, he worked on soil remediation projects for an energy company, where he was responsible for the characterisation of contaminated sites and led the remediation process.

His research interests include sustainability assessment, life cycle assessment, climate change and sustainable development policies, which influenced him to choose his PhD studies in the SIS group. His PhD is funded by Becas Chile (CONICYT).
